Privacy Policy
At Shay Kawaii, your privacy is a significant priority. We are a small handmade business, and we collect only what we need to take your order, get it to you, and stay in touch if you want us to.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us operate our store, and only to the extent they need it to do their job. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what choices you have.
Information you give us. When you place an order, create an account, sign up for our emails, or contact us, we may collect:
- — Your first and last name
- — Your email address and, if provided, your phone number
- — Your billing and shipping addresses
- — Your order history and any sizing, color, or custom-order details you send us
- — The content of emails or messages you send to our customer service
Payment information. When you pay, your card details go directly to our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our store records limited technical information when you visit:
- — Your IP address, browser type, and device information
- — Pages you viewed, what you added to your cart, and how you arrived at our site
- — Cookies and similar technologies, described in section 04
- — To process, make, and ship your order, and to send order confirmations and tracking updates
- — To answer your questions and provide customer service
- — To process returns and issue gift cards under our return policy
- — To send you marketing emails, if you have opted in
- — To detect and prevent fraud, chargebacks, and abuse of our store
- — To meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations
If you sign up for our emails, we will send you news about new pieces, restocks, and promotions. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing email, or by emailing us at contact@shaykawaii.com.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional messages. We will still send order confirmations, shipping notifications, and replies to your customer service questions, because those are necessary to complete your order.
Our store uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device. Some are strictly necessary, such as the cookie that remembers what is in your cart or keeps you logged in. Others help us understand how our store is used so we can improve it.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of our store, including checkout, may not work correctly.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only in these situations:
- — Our store platform. Our store runs on Shopify, which hosts our site and stores our order data.
- — Payment processors. To take payment and to handle refunds, chargebacks, and fraud checks.
- — Shipping carriers. We provide your name and address so your order can be delivered and tracked.
- — Email and customer service tools. To send the messages described above.
- — Customs authorities. For international orders, we must declare contents and provide recipient details.
- — Legal reasons. Where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, our customers, or the public.
- — Business transfer. If our business is sold or reorganized, customer data may transfer as part of that transaction.
These providers may only use your information to perform services for us.
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may store or process your information in the United States and other countries. If you are ordering from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
We keep order records for as long as needed to provide our service and to meet our tax, accounting, and legal obligations. If you unsubscribe from marketing, we remove you from our mailing list but may keep a record of your request so that we do not contact you again.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, and our store and checkout are encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw your consent to marketing at any time.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have these rights under the GDPR. We process your information to perform our contract with you when you place an order, on the basis of your consent for marketing emails, and on the basis of our legitimate interests in running and protecting our business. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. As stated above, we do not sell or share your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

Our store is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Our store and our emails may link to other websites, including social media. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies before sharing information with them.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Please check back periodically.
